Google to leave China?

CEO of Google Inc. Eric Schmidt said their business in China were stable after they were shut down by the government for censorship issues. “We maintain our business relationships and our engineering centers in China. Should the Chinese government become upset with us, become further upset with us, or what have you, they do have the ability to change this outcome.” Schmidt said.

Schmidt said their $750 million purchase of AdMob Inc. must be cleared by U. S. regulators. Users were forwarded to the Hong Kong site as the Chinese government had problems with google’s censoring regulations. Google stating that they might leave the Chinese Market after the incident caused more problems in the country. Google said they will continue to sell ads in China.

Baidu Inc. a rival for Google who took over the Chinese Market and Google’s shares dropped to 30.9% a 5% drop in the first quarter. Baidu shares rose 6% to 64% Analysys International in Beijing said.

Google rose $5.49 to $510.88 in the Nasdaq Stock Market an 18% drop totally this year.

Google’s Android software, could become the best software for mobile makers which is free and lets users surf the net. “Our partners are shipping about 65,000 Android handsets a day. But if you check the blogosphere, you will discover that there are some reports that that number may be quite low, if you get my drift.” Schmidt said. “Our enterprise business is growing very, very quickly. It’s on the order of a few thousand businesses per day that sign up for this.”
